Banks & Steelz – Wild Season
Sometimes you don’t understand why you love some music, but I’m a firm believer that you love it because it touches the soul.
I was looking up different artists on Spotify and I came across a collaboration between lead singer Paul Banks, of one of my favorite Indie Rock bands Interpol, and RZA from Wu-Tang Clan. At first I was very skeptical because they’re such vastly different genres, but I was completely and utterly in love with the song “Wild Season”. It also features Florence Welch, the lead singer of Florence + the Machine, and I’ve always personally thought she has an absolutely gorgeous voice.
I haven’t quite decided why I’m so in love with this song. Maybe it’s the combination of the voices and all of the different beats and other sounds in the song, but I’ve listened to this song at least seven times today. I love Paul Banks voice, it’s so hauntingly amazing. I also looked up the lyrics (which you can read them too), but this song just speaks to me on so many levels which is why I felt the need to write about it.
If you have the time I recommend listening to the entire album, all of the songs are fantastic. I know this type of music isn’t for everyone and not everyone will have the same reaction to it as I do, but I felt the need to share it with the people and my reaction to the song because of how it made me feel. As a society today, everyone is in such a hurry with everything and not very many people take the time to just stop and feel something. I guess what I’m trying to get as is, if you’re reading this, I hope you take the time to just stop what you’re doing and just submerge yourself in the moment or in the world.
