Gnarls Barkley- Abbey Road
Cee-lo Green x Danger Mouse
If you have ever heard the soulful and elegant sounds of the south from Artist Cee-lo Green, you know that, THAT is what music is supposed to sound like. It is something about his vocal range that almost seems other-worldly. From his anthems that raise the energy of any club he is playing in, or he is just speaking to you soul via headphones, Cee-lo has never failed to deliver what I consider to be “timeless sounds to score life.”
Pairing up with Danger Mouse, a very well established producer and long time friend of Green, the two find themselves in Abbey Studios. It is considered to be the most famous studio in the world. This powerhouse of recording for entertainment has housed a many greats in its time since it’s opening in 1931 in London. More recognizably “The Beetles”.
The sessions that Gnarls Barkley (the name of the duo) perform includes some very classic arrangements from their albums entitled “St. Elsewhere” and “The Odd Couple”. From records like Who’s Gonna Save My Soul, Going On, and my personal favorite Crazy.
When performing the song Crazy, you have no choice but to feel this sobering calm about your spirit. Each Lyric fills your mind and takes place of all the chaotic thoughts that haunted you that day. And as you listen, you realize more and more how very relevant the lyrics are to your life. Because, lets just all be honest, who among us isn’t a little off?
Below is a video of that very track, and all of the effortless glory known as Gnarls Barkley’s performance. Enjoy.
