Star Trek Beyond

To boldly go..

I’ve been trying for days to figure out what my first post is going to be about, and since I’m pretty much all things nerd I thought this was a perfect first post.

A couple days ago I had the pleasure of seeing the new Star Trek Beyond movie. I have never been a “Trekkie” but I have enjoyed the last two movies, they were visually amazing and the stories were fantastic. I have taken several animation classes so I have a different appreciation for the visuals than most people. During the whole movie I was completely blown away by how beautiful everything was. I’ve been looking on google for hours trying to find a proper picture to do justice to the space station in the movie but I just can’t find one.

If you don’t know what the movie is about here’s a short summary from IMDb:

“The first leg of the USS Enterprise’s five year mission takes them into uncharted territory. There the Enterprise is nearly destroyed and strands Kirk and his crew on a remote planet with no means of communication. Kirk must then work with the elements to reunite his crew and get back to Earth.”

I don’t want to give too much of the movie away if you haven’t seen it yet, but they do a wonderful job of paying tribute to the late great Leonard Nimoy who was the original Spock on the TV series, and they also had a tribute to the actor Anton Yelchin (Chekov) who unfortunately passed away after the making of the movie.

STAR TREK

After seeing the movie I was very satisfied with how it turned out. I need to go back and re-watch the first two of the series since there was such a gap between the release dates, but my overall impression was that it was very well done. If you haven’t seen it yet and you like all things nerd, like me, I highly recommend it. Even my parents saw it today and they said it was fantastic.
